I acknowledge with respect and thanks our shire's Bundjalung / First Nations community. I appreciate the wisdom of the elders, the family cohesion of those who keep language and culture allive. I understand the impatience of the young.
Our Tweed Shire community is nearly 98 000 strong, comprising diverse communities and a vibrant cultural life that resonates with visitors and residents alike. From the long-established families who give the shire, its towns and villages their unique character to the newcomers who bring fresh perspectives, our shire gives us a sense of place.
A sense of home.
The only way that this sense of home is available to all is to work strenuously towards affordble housing, appropriate housing stock and slowing the runaway housing market that makes rich people richer.
